Here is a little about my raw food journey
My father says I've been a Sandal-wearer for years. Over time my knowledge and experience has grown and so it was natural that I ended up an Organic Foodie. But not Raw. That was way too weird.
Even though I subscribed to a couple of Raw newsletters out of interest, there was no intention of venturing down that path. There was a raw muesli that I really liked and it became my regular breakfast.
In January 2009 our eldest daughter suggested I support her on a two week Raw Diet as a detox. That seemed do-able, two weeks isn't too long and it would be easy during the summer (I live in New Zealand). Fast forward to today and I am still Raw. Well, high raw as I choose not to eat 100% raw food.
I love the way I feel - sort of fresh and cool. I look younger, have more energy, my skin has improved, my nails are stronger and I've lost weight.
I haven't been this size since before I married 31 years ago. It was weight loss the easy way. No points to count, no food to weigh and I was never hungry. Weight loss was not my goal but it became a pleasant side effect in my pursuit of wanting to be even more healthy than I was (I was already organic, co-owning an organic business).
My husband and I had five children and we have homeschooled them for 20 years and it's a lifestyle that suited us.
We live in New Zealand (think: Lord of the Rings), a truly beautiful country that I love very much.
